
Joining Holmes, Radford & Avalon as a Senior Consultant in 2002, Ashley specializes
in directing capital campaigns and is recognized for his notable work in training
both boards and staffs of nonprofit groups in fund raising. Ashley has more than
30 years of experience in fund raising.
Prior to joining HRA Ashley served as Vice President of Development for Ranken
Technical College in St. Louis, handling responsibility for all fund development
programs, operations and public relations. During his tenure with Ranken he
successfully directed its 1997-98 Growth and Expansion Campaign, raising more
than $7 million from a variety of sources, including substantial donations from
member companies of Civic Progress, the elite organization of major corporations
in the St. Louis area.
Ashley has designed a system called "Fund Raising 101," which focuses on five
modules that provides an organization with the basic knowledge it "must have to
embark on a successful fund raising program."
A U.S. Navy combat veteran of Vietnam, Ashley earned his bachelor’s degree from
Colgate University. He is a member of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals
and serves on its board of directors. He has volunteered his time extensively with
numerous organizations, including the Missouri Botanical Garden Members’ Board;
chairman of the board of Big Brothers & Big Sisters; chairman of the board of the
Missouri Wildlife Rescue Center; development board chairman of St. Louis Children’s
Hospital; and a trustee for St. Louis Country Day School.
Ashley and his wife Charla reside in suburban St. Louis.
